John R. Millar, age 90, of Sebring, Ohio, passed away at 12:29 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Crandall Medical Center.
He was born May 27, 1927, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to William and Katherine (Mueller) Millar.
John was a graduate of Kenyon College and Michigan State University and was a Certified Public Accountant. He retired from Sunbeam Corporation as the vice president of corporate accounting.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, John served honorably during the Korean War.
He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Alliance where he served as an elder. He was on the Board of Directors for East Liberty Family Healthcare Center and founding board member of the Orr Compassionate Care Center, both in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Survivors include his wife, Joan (Akerman) Millar, whom he married September 22, 1956; son, David Millar of Madison; and grandchildren, Joseph Millar, Michael Millar, Christopher Millar, Bryan Daggett and Diana Daggett; great grandchildren, Damien Daggett, Jordan Millar, McKenzie Millar and Kennedieann Millar.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018, at First United Presbyterian Church in Alliance with the Rev. Dr. James K. McCurdy officiating. Interment will take place in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
