John Nelson Peterson, 87, passed away peacefully at 4:25 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, from cancer. He was born in Alliance, Ohio, on April 23, 1927, to Algot and Signe Peterson, graduated from Minerva High School, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Jo Hahn, in 1947, and they enjoyed nearly 67 years of devotion to each other. He retired in 1989 as plant manager of Greensteel in Alliance, Ohio.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Mary Jo, two sons, Edward (Kay) and Jerry (Marjorie); three grandchildren, Gregory (Danielle) Peterson, Susan (Ryan) Kowalske, and Douglas Peterson; and five great-grandsons.
Preceding him in death were his parents and four brothers, Albert, Carl, Paul and Bob.
The Peterson family would like to thank the dedicated nurses of Alliance Hospice for their thoughtful and compassionate assistance.
Per John's request, he will be cremated, with no calling hours or memorial service.
