John E. Pugh, age 85, of Alliance, passed away at 10 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born January 9, 1930, in Grindstone, Pennsylvania, to Higgins and Bessie (Cash) Pugh.
John lived in Alliance after serving as an airplane mechanic in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. In 1963 he moved to Pontiac, Michigan, and retired after working 30 years in the General Motors Fisher Body car plant. He loved people and assisted many Alliance residents in gaining employment.
He also loved vehicles, having been an auto mechanic and had owned a Marathon Station. He was a strong member and leader in the United Auto Workers.
John is survived by his daughter, JoAnn Pugh-Cowens of Alliance; sons, John Allen Pugh of Alliance, Jonathon Quinn of Pontiac, Michigan and Dale Pugh of Alliance; special sons, Bruce Quinn of Pontiac, Michigan and Michael Larsuel of Massillon; and four grandchildren, Jonathan Quinn Jr, Joslyn Quinn, Destinee and Demetrius Cowens.
Services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Feed My Sheep Ministries on Main Street in Alliance, with Pastor Bobby Williams officiating. Visitation will be held the same day from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
