John "Joe' Rodgers, Jr., age 91, of Homeworth, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at McCrea Manor.
He was born March 1, 1925, in East Palestine, Ohio to John J. Rodgers Sr. and Margaret (Kocher) Rodgers.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Joe served in the U. S. Navy during WWII.
Joe was a self-employed contractor, who after retiring enjoyed running errands for his two sons.
He was a member of Community Bible Church, Mile Branch Grange and the American Legion.
Joe enjoyed hunting, riding his three wheeler, traveling, camping, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his sons, Randy (Molly) Rodgers and Todd (Rhonda) Rodgers, both of Homeworth; five grandchildren, Nathan (Lauren), Brendan (Ally), Ali, Rachel and Tori; three great-grandchildren, twins, Avery and Lennon, and Laynee; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean Rodgers, whom he married June 27, 1948 and who died August 6, 2011; twin sisters, Mary Knight and Marty Meissner, and sister Margaret Benner; and twin great-granddaughters, Natalee and Lyla.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Community Bible Church with Pastor John Tucker officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m., Monday, July 25th at the church and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Entombment, with military honors will be at Highland Memorial Park.
