John W. Swanson, age 86, of Alliance died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2007 at his home.
He was born October 19, 1920 in Escanaba, Michigan to Jack and Ethel A. (Sundberg) Swanson.
John worked as a machinist at Alliance Machine Company, before retiring in 1983, and served with the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. (Langer) Swanson whom he married October 11, 1953; sons, Stephen O. Engh and Mimi Davisson of Martha's Vineyard, Mass., John A. (Kerry) Swanson of Alliance; daughter Ruth Ann Swanson and son-in-law David Kolm of N. Canton, three grandchildren, Matt, Sam and Kate; and brother Clarence Swanson of Staten Island, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Ann Breighner.
Private family services will be held.
