John "Mitch" Zinkhon

John Mitchell Zinkhon, age 74, of Alliance, passed from this earthly life on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, with the love of his life, Joyce Zinkhon, and his children at his side.
He was born September 14, 1938, at home in South Charleston, Ohio, to Flora Dell Zinkhon and Dale King.
After retiring from Reckitt and Benckiser, he enjoyed spending time with his ever-growing family and renovating his rental properties.
He was a season ticket holder for the Alliance Aviator and Mount Union Purple Raider football teams and rarely missed a game. He also loved Aviator basketball having been hooked during the Harry Fails years. He was a Western film buff and could be found in front of the TV enjoying John Wayne flicks. He often accompanied his wife, Joyce, to bingo and made many friends in Alliance, Harrisburg and Salem as a result.
He believed strongly in education and encouraged his children and grandchildren to study hard and work hard. All three of his children and all eight of his grandchildren are Alliance High School graduates.
Survivors include his wife Joyce "Jokie" (McPherson) Zinkhon whom he married December 17, 1956; son, Rock Zinkhon; daughters, Tammy (Robb) Hyde and Kelly Green, all of Alliance; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Hyde-Pinner and Marissa Hyde of Cleveland, Andrew (Jayla) Hyde of Ashland, Joshua Zinkhon of Aviano, Italy, Ashli Zinkhon Brown, Amber (John Lamp) Green, Kyle (Jacqui Rhome) Green, and Kari (Nathan) Phillips, all of Alliance; and eight great-grandchildren, Tucker, Taryn and Parker Brown, Landon and Aidan Green, Andrew and Hunter Lamp and Jaxon Phillips. Another great-grandson is expected in December 2013.
Mitch was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Dulaney officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
