John T. Weir

John Todd Weir, age 68, of Alliance, passed away at 5:15 p.m. surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 2, 2019.

He was born November 21, 1950 in Alliance, Ohio to John and Angeline (Hravatic) Weir.

A 1968 graduate of Alliance High School, John worked as an Electrician and Foreman with  American Steel for 30 years, having worked in both Alliance, and Granite City, Illinois.

John also worked for Chrysler in Fenton, Missouri and Kokomo, Indiana for 15 years as a welder repair.

He was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ since 1973, and had been confirmed at Union Avenue United Methodist Church.

During high school, John was a member of the swim team and played football. He enjoyed racing Go-Karts around the islands of East Milton; and built a 23’T Bucket Street Rod. He enjoyed building his ’38 Chevy Coupe, was a member of the NSRA, National Street Rod Association, and was an avid Michigan State University football fan.

John loved listening to Jimmy and the Soul Blazers and ZZ Top; and enjoyed spending time with his loving granddaughter, Annie.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Sandra (Lentz) Weir, whom he married May 26, 1973; daughters, Angela Weir, and Dr. Geraldine Weir, granddaughter, Anastaczia “Annie” Schumaker, all of Alliance; his beloved Chocolate Lab, Sassy, and Elliott, his Scottish Terrier, as well as several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2019 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Coralee Cox officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
