Joseph P. Erchick, age 92, of Alliance, passed away at 1:58 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Crandall Medical Center.
Joe was born December 10, 1923 in Denora, PA, to Joseph and Catherine (Tegi) Erchick.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Joe served in the U.S. Army as a medic during WWII. He returned to Alliance and went on to own and operate Mount Union Barber Shop.
Joe was a life member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, a 50 year member of the Elks and a life member of Knights of Columbus. He loved to play golf, racquetball, tennis, and enjoyed animals and watching sports on TV. A gifted landscaper, he would often say, "I grow them and Terry arranges them."
Loved by many for his caring and loving spirit, he would treat everyone equally with gracious respect and kindness.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Theresa (Corbisella) Erchick, sons, Christopher (Sherry Cioci) Erchick, Michael (Lori) Erchick and Steven Erchick, all of Alliance, grandchildren, Chuck (MB), James, Katie (Bill), Emily, Michael, Jr., Samuel, Desiree, Joshua (Jessica) and Christina (Andy); six great grandchildren; and sister, Clara King.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Marie Korleski, Katherine Erchick, Josephine Dellis, Julius Erchick, Louis Erchick, Steve Erchick, Julia Woolf, Katherine Short, Charles Erchick and William Erchick.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Regina Coeli Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Dyer officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to mass, at the church. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
Joe's family would like to express a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Crandall Medical Center and Alliance Hospice for their excellent care.
