Joseph Smith

Joseph A. "Joe" Smith, age 73 of Alliance, died at 5:00 p.m. Thursday March 24, 2005 at Community Care Center.
He was born May 6, 1931 in Sebring, Ohio to Henry Maxwell and Emma (Benedict) Smith and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Smith attended Sebring Schools and retired after working as a Core Finisher at American Steel Foundries.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.
Survivors include three daughters, Cindy (Stephen) Kraus of Alliance, Marsha (Dennis) Yarwood of Alliance, and Jean (Jack) Kline of Lisbon, one son, Joseph Smith Jr. of Canton, one sister, Ruth Palmer of Sebring, four grandchildren, Angela Mikes, Roy, Christopher and Matthew Kline, and four great-grandchildren, Austin, Nicholas Roy Jr. and Kayla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Marcella I. (Kean) Smith, who died Sept. 12, 1994.
Private services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Payne of the Alliance Baptist Temple officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors' choice.
