Joy L. Gurung

Joy L. Gurung went home to be with the Lord after she lost a hard fought battle against a very aggressive breast cancer over the past five years at 7:34 p.m. March 30, 2017.
Joy was born December 19, 1961 in Alliance, Ohio to Walter and Mary Etta (Gibbons) Jorney.
A 1980 graduate of Alliance High School, Joy attended Malone University and received her Associate's Degree in Accounting from Kent Stark.
She was a staff accountant at Ohio Gratings, Inc. for ten years.
A member of First Friends Church, Joy was a hard worker, always supported and encouraged her boys in everything they did; and loved spending time with her family.
She will be loved and missed by her family, including her husband, Hari Gurung, whom she married January 26, 1988; three sons (all serving active duty with the U. S. Marine Corps), Brint (Gloria) Gurung, stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA; Seth (Samantha) Gurung, stationed at Norfolk, VA; and Shane (Katelyn) Gurung, stationed in Cherry Point, NC; grandchildren, Brint Jr., Lizeah, Logan, and Cooper; her mom, Mary Etta Jorney of Alliance; sisters Treva (Randy) Hutchison of Bloomsburg, PA, and Anita (Mark) Gifford of Wooster; nephews, Blaine (Shannon) Hutchison and David Hutchison; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Sams of the Alliance Evangelical Friends Church officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St., Canfield, OH 44406.
