Joyce Ann Summers, age 72, died Saturday, October 30, 2010. She was surrounded by her family who will miss her but is comforted to know she is again with Bruce.
She was born August 6, 1938, in Alliance, Ohio. Joyce was the daughter of Ruhl Moneypenny, Mable (Bell) Moneypenny-Betz and Charles "Chiz" Betz.
She graduated from Alliance High School in 1956. She worked as a telephone operator for Morgan's Engineering and Alliance City Schools.
Joyce was known for her ability to choose the perfect card for all occasions and then make it better by adding her personal touch to make it even more special.
Over the years, she enjoyed camping with her family and friends, playing cards with her card clubs, which were Couple's Club, Jokerettes and Elite. She was a member of the Beechwood United Methodist Church.
On August 11, 1957, she married Bruce Summers and they enjoyed fifty three years of marriage, before he died on August 9, 2010. She was also predeceased by her parents and step-father.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bruce, Dianne (Bill) Arnold and David (Karen); and grandchildren, Michael, Mandi, Tara, Kendra, Krista, Justin, Billy, Brieann, Matt, Jessica, Brianna and Drew. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Gloria Moneypenny, sister-in-laws, Nonie (Jim) Toth, Goldie Summers and brother-in-law, Roger (Janet) Summers.
For over fifty years, Bruce and Joyce were part of a circle of friends that provided laughter, friendship and countless good times. More importantly they have always been an endless source of love and support to all of us when it was needed most.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Miller officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
