Juanita June Shutler, 101 years young and beloved by all who were blessed by her presence, went to be with her Lord August 15, 2015 at 4:44 a.m. after a brief illness.
Juanita was born March 12, 1914 in a log cabin during a heavy snowstorm in Mansfield Township, Ohio to Pearl and James A. Hahn. She was a devoted daughter and took care of her mother and younger sisters while she was only nine years old. She left high school at age 16 to share home responsibilities with her father.
She married Charles C. Shutler (deceased) on June 16, 1936 in Cumberland W.V. Together they raised their third generation Alliance family of three children. Juanita worked as a machinist and was the union representative at Pressweld, Inc. until her retirement at age 65. She then became her husband's caregiver. She was assistant Girl Scout Leader at St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was a faithful 68 year member. She hand-pieced, quilted and crocheted many beautiful spreads and blankets to give to others. She was a gentle soul with an iron will who was never too busy to lend an ear, console, praise, or encourage you to be the best you could be.
Juanita is survived by her daughter, Joan and husband Donald Boyce, her son, Charles Shutler (all of Alliance) and her son, Jackson and his wife Shirley Shutler of Rainbow City, Alabama. She had ten grandchildren: David and wife Cynthia Boyce, Dawn Marie Boyce (deceased), Diana and husband Daniel Cullen, Dale and wife Angie Boyce, Mark and wife Karen Shutler, Troy Shutler, Dana and wife Angel Shutler, Christopher Shutler, Todd Shutler, and Stephen and wife Kristin Shutler/ she had eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Juanita is also survived by Mrs. Betty Lou Kee, who was like a daughter to her.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and sister Wanda Peroz and Vera Yendrich.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3295 S. Union Ave., Alliance, OH, with Pastor Timothy Muse officiating. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Juanita will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park.
