Julia Ann Slimak

Julia Ann Slimak (nee Goodrich), age 78, of Alliance, passed away at 7 a.m. Sunday, December 31, 2017 at her home.
She was born December 13, 1939 in Hundred, West Virginia to Paul Ershel and Hazel Claire (Stutler) Goodrich.
A 1956 graduate of Alliance High School, Julia attended Mount Union College, and in 1995, graduated from Hannah E. Mullins School of Nursing.
She had previously worked at Band-Orch (family business) in Alliance. After graduating from Nursing School, she was employed as an L.P.N. at Horizon Meadows and Bel-Air Convalescent Center.
Julia was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, where she was active with the music program for 45 years, served as the church organist for 40 years until her illness. She was previously employed and active in the Alliance of Churches.
She was House Mother at Sigma Nu, Beta Iota Chapter at Mount Union College for two years, and enjoyed decorating, sewing, crafting, music and travel.
Julie treasured her time with her beloved children and grandchildren; including the Village Child.
She will be loved and missed by her family, including, her brother, Tom Goodrich of Cottontown, TN; children, Ellen Fox (Ed Hall Jr.), of Alliance; John Paul (Candee) Slimak of Columbia, TN, Stephanie (Randy) Stith of Alliance; Susan (Joel) Morgan of Copley; Thomas (Molly) Slimak of Bath; and Steven Slimak of Alliance; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, John George Slimak III, whom she married June 22, 1958, and who died in 1988.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Angie Storer officiating.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
