Julia Pauline (Lay) Taylor

Julia Pauline (Lay) Taylor, age 88, of Salem and formerly of Alliance, passed away at 6:53 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2017, at Auburn Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Salem.
She was born January 20, 1929, in Hazard, Kentucky, to Lloyd L. and Mary Ann (Hammers) Lay.
Julia was a member of Damascus United Methodist Church and formerly attended Alliance Church of the Nazarene.
She enjoyed flower gardening, reading and crafts. Julia loved her pets and most of all, her large family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Kathryn (Ralph) Landon of Salem, Karen Smith of Watertown, New York and Daniel (June) Taylor Jr. of Wesley Chapel, Florida; ten grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sister, Lois Brewer of Oakhill, West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her; husband, Daniel Taylor Sr. whom she married October 29, 1946 and who died June 9, 1994; son, Homer Lee Taylor; granddaughter, Jenny Taylor; great-granddaughter, Tiara M. Smith; and siblings, Harold Lay, Mary Savage, Mattie Fletcher, and Dortha Harvey.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 2341 E. State St. Alliance, Ohio 44601 or to Damascus United Methodist Church, 300 Valley Rd. Damascus, Ohio 44619.
