Karen Ann Dietrich, age 62 of Alliance, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday December 31, 2014.
She was born April 18, 1952 in Alliance, Ohio to Angelo C. and Audrey V. (Gulling) Pederzolli.
A graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Karen received her B.S. and her M.Ed. from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Mrs. Dietrich taught primary grades, remedial reading and curriculum development. Later in life, she was the office manager for Dietrich Orthodontics. Karen was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
Karen's dates are from 1952-2014. However, what mattered most of all, was the dash between those years. Only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. For it is within this dash that Karen chose how to live. Karen was one of a kind, an amazing and brave woman. Always understanding and sensitive, she was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and our extended family's best friend. One of her favorite children's books was "The Giving Tree." She loved our family the way the tree loved the little boy... unconditional and forever. No matter the circumstances, she was always willing to go the extra mile for everyone.
Her family and friends realize that she was an incredibly special person, and we all treasured experiencing life's milestones with her. She cherished the celebrations, marriages, births, baptisms, and all the moments in between spent with the people she loved.
Karen always had an engaging energy about her and a love for learning new things. Her absolute favorite activity was organizing and hosting extended family events. She enjoyed teaching, computer technology, cooking Mediterranean food, and swimming. She did all of these things with spirit and energy abound. She made the day brighter for those around her and could light up a room with her smile and wit.
She led the way for our family with selflessness, strength, expectation and humor; but most of all love. Her life was centered on family and the Catholic faith. She trusted in God and believed in her heart, that God would not give her more than she could handle. Her strength was so great, that whatever came her way she would face it with determination and courage.
Karen's passion for living, love of family, and faith in God inspired her to live every day of her life as a blessing, and sincerely believed that each one was the "best day ever." In her final days, we know that Karen looked back on her life and was at peace. She felt truly blessed and happy that she enjoyed everything in life that was truly important.
She will be loved and missed by her family including her husband, Thomas Dietrich, whom she married August 2, 1975; children, Tom (Kathy) Dietrich of Akron, Katie (Ken) Meyer of Albuquerque, NM, and Joe (Courtney) Dietrich of Uniontown; grandchildren, Drew, Matthew, Ryan, Allie, Jake and Macey; brothers, Andy (Anita) Pederzolli of Alliance, and Joe (Michele) Pederzolli of Hanoverton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
