Karen D. Harvey, age 71, of Alliance passed away on December 13, 2021.
She was born on March 6, 1950 in Sistersville, West Virginia to Jack and Martha Jane (Light) Hammel.
Karen enjoyed many things such as cooking, baking, sewing, shopping and taking yearly family vacations to the beach. She loved her family more than anything and took every opportunity to host family dinners where the house was full of laughter. She was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the glue of the family and the center of our universe. She will be forever missed and will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Douglas Earl Harvey; her two daughters, Sonia (Chris) Leasure and Tara (Chris) Vargo; her seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Randy) Foley, Matthew D. Harvey, Kaitlyn (Jake) Hall, Melanie P. Vargo, Cassidy A. Vargo, Evelyn J. Fortune, Andrew J. Fortune; her seven great-grandchildren, Chloie, Baelee, Weslee and Brentlee Foley; Kane Harvey; Skylar and Lola Hall, all of Alliance, Ohio; her sisters, Diane (Butch) Grimes, Lora (Dan) Wimer, Beverly (Russ) Fortune, Sandra (Mike) Pinkerton and Linda Hammel. Karen was also an aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Dale Edward Hammel, Pat Ann Middleton and Jackie Hammel.
Funeral services will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Friday, December 17th at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation two hours prior and Pastor Ed Carter officiating. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
