Karl E. Wagnitz, age 68, of Alliance, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at Aultman Hospital.
He was born September 28, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Clarence E. and Marie Ann (Argalas) Wagnitz.
A graduate of Central Catholic High School, Karl attended Southwestern State University in Oklahoma.
Karl worked as a salesman for Frito-Lay for 30 years, and later for Amster-Kirtz.
As a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, Karl served as a lector and Eucharistic minister; and during his youth, served as an altar boy at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Karl was a member of Alliance Elks Lodge 467, and past Exalted Ruler. He was a member of the A.H.S. Band Boosters, loved to golf, and was a huge Michigan University fan.
During the Vietnam Era, Karl volunteered to serve in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Karen S. (Morehead) Wagnitz, whom he married Nov. 22, 1969; son, Jeffrey Wagnitz and his partner, Nicholas Niland, of Grove City, Ohio; Kelly Anstine, whom Karl thought of as a daughter, her husband, Justin Anstine, and their children, Abby Kline, Jayden, Zackary, and Kaitlynn Anstine, of Alliance; brothers, Nicholas Wagnitz of Dundee, Ohio, Jerome (Brenda) Wagnitz of Williamsport, Virginia, Philip (Chetose) Wagnitz of Saga, Japan, and Edward (Lori) Wagnitz, of Munds Park, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Catherine Johnson.
Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 4-7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elks Scholarship Fund, c/o Alliance Elks Lodge, American Diabetes Association, or the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, Alliance, Ohio.
