Karl F. Wurgler

Karl F. Wurgler, age 89, of Alliance, passed away at 10:15 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born January 9, 1929, in Alliance, Ohio, to Fritz and Hermine (Schuller) Wurgler.
Karl was former manager of the Aid Budget Company and owner of Alliance Bureau of Collections for 36 years.
He was a life member of Knights of Pythias for more than 50 years, Silver Life Master American Contract Bridge League, former director of Alliance Bridge Club, chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals for Lexington Township, member of the American Legion, Alliance Republican Club, Ohio Farm Bureau, and certified Ohio Tree Farmer. He also served as a bailiff for Alliance Municipal Court for 14 years.
An avid hunter and bridge player, he also liked watching Ohio State Football, the Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians.
Karl was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1946 to 1948, Army of Occupation serving in Japan with the 8th Army 25th Infantry Division 519 MP.
Survivors include his wife, Rhoda (Godsey) Wurgler; children, Fred Wurgler, Thomas (Tamela) Wurgler, Susan (Ronald) Olson, Bruce Wurgler, Michael (Jean) Wurgler, Kevin (Rebecca) Ward and Lee Anne Persello; sisters, Eleanor Fredley and Bonne (Steve) Hill; and brother, Heinrich "Hank" (Beverly) Wurgler; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Helen Wurgler Rattay; and brothers, Erwin, Fritz and Winston.
A memorial visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb 1, 2018 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital 332 N. Lauderdale St. Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
