Kathleen Faye Chapman age 83 of Avon Lake and formerly of Alliance, died at her home in Avon Lake at 5:50 a.m. January 18, 2004. She was born May 30, 1920 in Homeworth, Ohio to Virgil and Clara (Stump) Thomas and lived most of her life in Alliance. She was a 1938 graduate of Alliance High School and graduate of the former Alliance Business College.
Mrs. Chapman was formerly employed as a secretary for Spring and Holzworth of Alliance. A member of First Christian Church, she was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 296 of Alliance, and the Alliance Senior Citizens Center.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, brother and nieces.
Survivors include her husband Charles C. Chapman, whom she married August 2, 1942, one daughter Jill (Phil) Battershell, of Bay Village, Ohio, two grandchildren Bethany and Jeffrey Battershell one brother Paul (Marcia) Thomas of Alliance, and three nieces, Leigh Ann Douglas, Karen Thomas, and Linda Wood.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Craig L. Jones and Sue DeHoff officiating. Friends may call from 12:30-1:30 p.m. O.E.S. Chapter 296 will conduct an Order of Eastern Star Service at noon. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
