Kathleen Zink McDonald

d. April 18, 2015

Kathleen Zink McDonald, age 70 passed away April 18, 2015 at Canterbury Villa with her family beside her after a valiant three year battle with cancer.
She was born December 3, 1944 to Robert and Daisy (Porter) Zink.
Kathy grew up in Alliance and graduated from Alliance High School in 1962. She then moved to Canton for the next 20 years, raising her daughters.
She was very active in the Glen Oak Booster Club, and moved back to Alliance where she has resided for the past 20 years.
Kathy retired from Central Allied in Canton after working in the Accounting/Billing Department and Grinders Above and Beyond in Alliance.
She is survived by her mother, Daisy Zink, daughters Theresa (Joel) Mesaros and Christine Randall, grandson Joe; step-grandsons, Jack and Rex; sister Connie Zink; brother Carey (Valerie) Zink, nephew Zachery Zink, and niece Stephanie Zink.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father, Robert and sister Terri Zink.
Our life is worth more than one paragraph in the paper. There is so much more.
Kathy was a worker, working one and a half jobs for many years. She walked every day until she discovered the YMCA, which became her passion twice a day, making many more friends. She was "frugal", loved a good deal, loved to wear black and white, and in the winter, she couldn't wait for summer so she could wear her flip flops and sandals, she hated shoes. She loved the Cleveland Indians, and had several lunch groups she met with. She had dinner every month with her high school friends. She loved to read. Best of all, she loved her daughters and her joy, grandson Joe. He was her buddy.
She fought valiantly until she said "No more - it's time." She will be missed by so many and in the end that's all we can ask for.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, with a time to visit afterwards.
