Kathryn Ann "Kay" Hamlin, age 59 of Alliance, died at 1:10 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.
Kay was born Nov. 5, 1944 in Alliance, Ohio to William and Virginia (Waller) Hamlin. She was raised in Alliance and graduated from Alliance High School in 1962. Kay graduated from Mount Union College with a degree in elementary education. She also received her Masters degree from Akron University as a Reading Specialist.
Kay was a member of the Union Avenue United Methodist Church. She held membership in the Ohio Education Association and Phi Delta Kappa a professional fraternity in education.
She served as President of the "Beta Beta" Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma teaching sorority, and was a member of the Alliance Woman's Club.
Besides her father Bil Hamlin, she is survived by close family members.
She was preceded in death by her mother, and one infant brother.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon Ruggles officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Fairmount Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Union Ave. United Methodist Church, 1843 S. Union Ave. Alliance, Ohio 44601, or the Alliance High School Foundation, 200 Glamorgan St. Alliance, Ohio 44601.
