Kathryn L. Oyster, age 94 of Alliance, died at 5:15 p.m. April 18, 2005 at Bel-Air Care Center.
She was born March 6, 1911 in Alliance, Ohio to Emmett E. and Nora (Hales) Lowry and was a lifelong resident of Alliance and Louisville.
Mrs. Oyster graduated in 1929 from Alliance High School. She was a member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church since 1922 and member of the Hively Sunday School Class.
She served as the Class Reunion Leader for her high school graduating class for many years, and was a member of the L.B.F. Card Club, Beechwood Pioneers and Marlboro Senior Citizens.
Survivors include two sons, William (Doris) Oyster and Alan (Barbara) Oyster, both of Alliance, two daughters, Marilyn (Robert) Christen of Minerva and Arlene (Gene) Bielz of Marlboro, twelve grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Oyster was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oscar R. Oyster, whom she married Oct. 15, 1930 and who died Jan. 9, 1996, one grandson, William Michael Oyster, two brothers, William and James, and two sisters, Eleanor Ballantine and Bette Steiman.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Gordon Ruggles officiating. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Mount Union Cemetery.
