Keith Mccord

May 21, 1946 — June 23, 2006

Keith I. McCord, age 60, of Alliance, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home Friday, June 23, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. In the end, cancer won.
He was born May 21, 1946 in Alliance, Ohio to John R. "Jack" and Corinne (Griffith) McCord. A 1965 graduate of Alliance School, he retired from American Steel Foundries.
Keith was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandpa, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. Keith liked to boat and camp with his family and friends.
Honey, we will always remember our boating and glistening lakes, may God grant you eternal red skies at night, Sailors delight. You will be deeply missed by your loving family and friends.
As we mourn his passing, we take great comfort in the fact that he is at peace and no longer suffering.
Keith was a 12 year member of AA, and a member of the Alliance Arid Club and Canton Arid Club. He served on the board of directors as vice-chairman and house manager at Dr. Bob's in Akron, where AA started. His main goal there was to keep Dr. Bob's open for the young newcomers coming into the program.
He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, and a former Webelo Scout Leader.
He was preceded in death by his father, John McCord and his brother, Steven J. McCord.
Survivors include his mother, Corinne, his loving wife, Susette (Godfrey) McCord, with whom he celebrated his 35th wedding anniversary on May 28th; one daughter, Amy Nezbeth, one son, William McCord, one niece, Nichole Godfrey, one nephew, Alan Godfrey, whom he raised as his own; grandsons, Shannon Edwards, and Zachary McCord; granddaughter, Rachael Edwards; great-grandson, Isaac Garcia; and several brother-in-laws and sister-in laws. He was also known as Uncle Keith to numerous nieces and nephews.
Keith leaves behind so many dear and loving friends that we could not begin to name them all.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Baltzer of Lexington United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at Freeburg Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to 1345 S. Rockhill, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
