Kelly St. John, age 73, of Minerva, was diagnosed with bone cancer May 7th and passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014, at his home with his wife by his side and then surrounded by family at Alliance Community Hospital where he was pronounced.
He was born November 22, 1940, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Clifton and Margaret.
Kelly joined the United States Army in 1957, serving in Vietnam, and honorably discharged in 1970. He moved to Alliance in 1971, thus meeting his wife, Norma through his sister-in-law, Nancy Tuttle. They married June 17, 1972 and celebrated their 42nd anniversary June 17th.
He was transferred to Carnation Pet Foods in Oakland, CA, in 1981, upon their closing, he worked for U.P.S., becoming District Manager, building future plants in northern California. Tracing back to a helicopter crash in Vietnam, he became medically disabled after having four back surgeries and one neck fusion.
Kelly loved traveling when able, reading, and working on his computer. He looked forward to football season every August!
Survivors include his wife, Norma; brother, Bob (Doris) of Kansas; son, Jim (Tara) of New Jersey; daughters, Linda and Debbie of New Jersey; two grandsons; one great-grandson; sister-in-law, Sue Yarian; brothers- in-law, Bill (Debbie) Brindack and Ronnie Brindack; nephews, Mike Tuttle, Tom (Tonya) Yarian, Ed (Jen) Yarian, and Andy (Betha) Yarian; and niece, Angie Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Nancy Tuttle, who passed away May 8, 2014; and his father and mother-in-law, Andy and Velma Brindack.
He is already and forever will be deeply missed by his wife and loving pets, Sweet and Gidget.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Mainwaring Chapel at Alliance City Cemetery. Interment will follow.
