Kenneth F. Bixler, age 81, of Alliance, died at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at McCrea Manor.
He was born February 21, 1927 in Middlebranch, Ohio to Lester M. and Theora (Combs) Bixler and was a lifelong area resident.
Kenneth was a graduate of the former Marlboro High School and was employed as a Millwright by the Chrysler Company until his retirement.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran having served during World War II as a medic and was a member of the American Legion. He was also a former Lexington Township Trustee for three terms.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara J. (Anderson) Bixler, whom he married August 11, 1990; his daughter, Carol Hockenbury, of Marlboro; son, Marvin (Cathie) Bixler of Alliance; three stepsons, Craig A. Mazzei of Virginia Beach, VA, David D. Mazzei of Lorain and Daniel S. Mazzei of Beloit; three grandchildren, Brent, Adam (Allison) and Kyle (Leah) Bixler; one great-grandson, Austin; and two sisters, Marilyn Middleton and Janice Bixler, both of Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mina E. Bixler and a son-in-law, Charlie Hockenbury.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Don Nicely officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Bixler's memory to East Central Ohio Pilot Association Flight Scholarship Fund, ECOPA, P.O. Box 3345, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
