Kenneth Marshall Brown

February 21, 1926 — September 17, 2023

Together Again- Kenneth Marshall Brown, age 97, passed away on September 17, 2023 at McCrea Manor Nursing Home.

Born on February 21, 1926, Ken was a lifelong resident of Alliance. On September 22, 1951 he married his wife of 70 years, Doris Rufibach. Ken and Doris were parents to three sons, Keith (Margaret), David (Anjie), and the late Lee (Betsy) Brown. They have eight grandchildren, Ryan (Missy) Brown, Dustin (Jen) Brown, Allyson (Jayson) Gray, Morgan (Tony) Whitten, Amanda Brown (Trent Loehring), Michael (Emily) Brown, Clay (Jessie) Caufield, and Rylee (Ethan) Elias; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Always a hard worker, Ken held several jobs during his lifetime. As a young man, he worked as an usher at Mount Union Theater and as a riveter at Taylorcraft Airplane Factory. He joined the Alliance Fire Department in 1949 and served 31 years as well as working 21 years as a custodian at Union Avenue United Methodist Church. In his free time Ken enjoyed traveling with his family and documenting their trips with old fashioned slide shows. He played softball for the fire department and was known as “Bullets” Brown for his speed. Ken always took great pride in his cars, especially his Oldsmobiles. In the mid 60’s Ken served as president of the Alliance Fire Department Association and was  a member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church, the church he loved to take care of.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Zola Brown; wife, Doris; son, Lee; brother, Clarence (Betty); sister, Mildred (Clyde) Russel.

A funeral service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on September 21st at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior. Reverend Becky Weamer will officiate. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Union Avenue United Methodist Church, 1843 S. Union Ave. Alliance, Ohio 44601.
