Kenneth D. Johnson age 78 of Alliance died at Alliance Community Hospital at 12:17 p.m. July 27, 2003.
He was born in Rockhold's, Kentucky on November 8, 1924 to Henry and Florence (Peace) Johnson. He lived in Alliance since 1950.
Mr. Johnson was employed as a Press Operator at Gem Clay in Sebring, and was an Owner Operator with Dworkin Trucking in Cleveland, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of Alliance Baptist Temple for 48 years, and a member of Teamsters Local 317 in Youngstown. Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran, serving aboard the U.S.S. Boxer Aircraft Carrier.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Teague) Johnson, whom he married December 22, 1947, one daughter Rhonda (Greg) Shaffer of Alliance, one son Ronald (Cathy) Johnson of Alliance, five grandchildren, Dawn (Curt) VanEperen, Deborah (Jim) Thompson, Dale (Brenda) Johnson, Jaimie Shaffer, and Jonathan Shaffer, three great-grandchildren Cameryn and Cole Thompson, and Daegen VanEperen, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday July 31, 2003 at the funeral home, with Pastor Randy Payne officiating. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Fairmount Memorial Park, with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 166 and VFW Post 1066 of Alliance. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 925 S. Main St. N. Canton, Ohio 44720.
