Kenneth Louis Prickett Sr. of Alliance passed away at 4:15 a.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Community Care Center in Alliance at the age of 98.
He was born March 19, 1918, in Canton, Ohio and grew up on the farm in Freeburg, Ohio. He continued to farm in the Marlboro and Limaville area for several years.
Ken moved to Alliance and built his home on Bon Air Avenue. He was employed at the Alliance Rubber Company for 20 years, and then acquired a better job at Transue and Williams as an inspector and later as a security guard, then a licensed boiler man at Keener Rubber Company. He worked two jobs to support his family of six children.
He was a self-taught musician, playing the violin and tenor banjo in the Fox Orchestra in Limaville. He would tell you what this city needs is a good band without keyboard and a guitar.
Kenneth is survived by his sons, Kenneth Jr. and Larry; daughters, Shirley Prickett, Barbara Moore of Alliance and Nancy Prickett of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister Pearl Leech of Alliance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orth Benjamin and Elsie (Haines) Prickett; wife, Clara M. (Leech) Prickett, whom he married in 1940 and who died February 22, 2008; and son, Michael in 2014.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with minister, Richard Mikes officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
