Kent Edward Highhouse of Alliance, OH passed away suddenly and peacefully on November 16, 2021, at the age of 79.
Kent was born on November 5, 1942, in Warren, PA to Edward Leroy Highhouse and Coilla May Ugard. He lived in Warren until 1977 when he moved his family to Olmsted Falls, OH.
His first job was as a gas station mechanic in the Allegheny Mountains and he also worked for a period of time as a tool and die maker. With only a high school education and some community college, he ultimately rose to become General Plant Manager of a national manufacturing company. He retired from manufacturing in 1994 and started his second career in retail as the office manager at a large JCPenney in Eatontown, NJ. He retired for the second time in 2010 when he and his wife moved to Ocala, FL. In 2018 Kent found his way back to Ohio where he raised his children and where they still live.
Throughout his life and especially during his retirement years, one of his biggest joys was helping out others from things as small as changing a light bulb to recently renovating his daughter’s kitchen and installing a basement bathroom for his son.
In Kent’s gentle and compassionate way, he forever transformed the standard of living and aspirations for his kids and grandkids.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and leaves an emptiness that is impossible to fill.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Allene Tartaglia, his daughter, Traci Bassi, his son, Scott (Maggie) Highhouse, his grandchildren, Dean and Drake (Rebekah) Savage, Carmen, Cole, Baye, Owen, and Willow Highhouse, his great-grandchildren, Drake Jr. and Sofiah Savage, and his beloved cats, Tink, Kiki, and Kali.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Terry Highhouse, his ex-wife, Rae Weems, and his son-in-law, Dave Bassi, who passed away 9 weeks prior.
Per Kent’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
Arrangements are entrusted to Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home 75 South Union Ave Alliance, Ohio 44601.
