Kern E. VanDorsten, age 78, of Alliance, passed away at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 27, 1939, in Canton, Ohio, to Clyde and Roberta (Johnston) VanDorsten.
Kern, a graduate of McKinley High School received an Academic and Athletic Scholarship to Case Western Reserve University where he earned a Bachelor Degree and received a Master Degree in Electrical Engineering at Columbia University in New York.
He was owner of VanDorsten Insurance Agency in Canton and was successful in the insurance business.
Kern loved to watch the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed auctions, watching old Westerns, The History Channel and most of all eating ice cream.
Survivors include his wife, Cora VanDorsten of Alliance; two daughters, Kristine VanDorsten of California and Debrah Raybuck of Cleveland; two sons, Jeffrey (Glenice) VanDorsten and Eric (Angela) VanDorsten, both of Canton; stepson, Jerry (Jaclynn) Pisoni of Alliance; stepdaughter, Patricia (Robert) Birone of Salem and stepson, Michael (Lisa) Pisoni of Niles; and 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Kern was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolee Myers; and an infant brother, Edmond.
There will be no services.
