Kittie Marie Page, age 79, went home to Jesus peacefully on October 12, 2024.
Born December 13, 1944 in East Orwell, Ohio, she was the first child of William “Bill” and Catherine McIntyre.
Kittie leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, William “Bill” (Dalyrae) McIntyre Jr., Judith (Andy) Rohrer, Jon (Robin) McIntyre; her daughters, Tonia (Bob) Burley of Alliance, Ohio, and Sonia (Tyrone) Marsh of Columbus, Ohio; son, Phillip (Thomika) Page of Owensboro, Kentucky; grandchildren, Niki (Timothy) Trettel, TaNisha Flynn, Catherine Flynn, and J.C Flynn Jr. (Iyonna); great-grandchildren, Scott, Gabriel, Oliver, and Roman Trettel, and Ezekiel Flynn.
Kittie is preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” and Catherine McIntyre; her brother, Clifford McIntyre; her first, second and third husbands, James Martin, George Williams, and Otha “O.J.” Page Sr.
Kittie graduated from Alliance High School in 1962. She participated in civil rights marches in Columbus, Ohio and other cities, even while pregnant with her first child. While never serving in the armed forces, her first husband was an African American Army soldier and stationed in Alabama and Germany during the 1960s. Kittie lived during one of the most tumultuous times in American history, often describing the challenges she faced. She worked all kinds of jobs to provide for her family, the longest of which was from 1977 to 2001, when she worked at American Steel Foundries in Alliance, Ohio. Kittie also tutored high school children in standardized state testing and was a long serving treasurer at New Zion Baptist Church.
Kittie never knew a stranger. A true Samaritan, she would go to great lengths to help anyone and everyone. Kittie was also a Christian first and would answer every obstacle with, “we need to pray about it,” and then she’d set to work getting it done, often recruiting others to join in her adventure. Throughout her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always celebrated life and thus was a joy to be around. All who loved her will sorely miss her.
A going home service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Friday, October 18th at 1:00 pm with a visitation one hour prior.
Interment will follow immediately at Highland Memorial Park, Beloit, Ohio.
