Larry David Cox age 71 of Marlboro, died at Alliance Community Hospital April 26, 2004.
He was born in Evansville, Indiana on May 4, 1932 to Larry O. and Agnes (McMullin) Cox. Mr. Cox graduated from Alliance High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mt. Union College in 1954. Larry served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Alliance, serving as past president and treasurer. Mr. Cox retired from BankOne after 34 years as a Vice President and Manager of the Hartville office, a past clerk/treasurer of Marlboro Township for 14 years, Vice President of Eastern Stark Chapter of Thrivent Financial, past board member Hartville Meadows Nursing Home for 8 years, past Commissioner of Marlboro Little League Baseball, he served as a Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor for many years, Larry was also a member of; Conrad Lodge #271 F&AM serving as treasurer for 9 years, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton serving as Treasurer, the Alliance Council #112, Alliance Chapter #83, Alliance Commandry #67, Tadmor Temple, Alliance Shrine Club and R.O.J. Court #80.
He is survived by his wife; Gretchen (Schweikart) Cox, whom he married Dec. 22, 1955, three sons; David C. (Jody), of Columbus, Larry D. (Gretchen E.), of Alliance, Geoffrey P. of Mentor, OH and a daughter Wendy S. (Jeffrey) Harrison, of San Diego CA; eight grandchildren, and a sister Mariann Cox Landa of Milwaukee, WI.
Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Dean Lewis officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church Friday. Masonic Services (open to public) will be held at 6:30 PM Thursday. Interment will be in Fairmount Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alliance Masonic Temple Building Endowment, 32nd Degree Learning Center in Canton or Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.
