Larry R. Odey, Age 68, passed away peacefully at Aultman Hospital surrounded by his family on September 24, 2020.
He was born in El Paso, TX on January 6, 1952 to Richard and Bethel Odey.
Larry graduated from Marlington High School in 1970. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1971-1974. Larry then worked as a machinist at Alliance Machine for 20 years and then retired from Powell Electric.
He was a lifetime member of Maximo Zion Church where he served as the president of the board. Larry was a volunteer firefighter for Washington Township as well as a member of the Louisville Fraternal order of Eagles. He spent many summers coaching Hot Stove baseball and led a team to win the state championship. Larry enjoyed collecting unique goods, hunting, boating and camping. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Larry never missed any of his grandchildren’s games or events.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Bethel; his wife, Debbie, whom he married September 22, 1979; his children, Jason (Jennifer) Odey, Shawn (Elizabeth) Odey, and Jennifer (Ryan) Scott; nine grandchildren, Gage, Garret, Logan, Kadence, Shelby, Jaxon, Kaleb, Blake and Aubree; his siblings, Gary (Darla) Odey, Sharon (Jon) Mattison, Jerry (Penny) Odey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard.
A funeral service will be held at Maximo Zion Church September 29th at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation two hours prior. An internment at Highland Memorial Park will follow. Officiating will be Larry’s best friend Pastor David Ashbrook.
