Larry H. Marshall, age 76, of Louisville, passed away at 6:15 a.m., Friday, February 14, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center.
He was born March 14, 1943 to the late Ralph A. and Beatrice V. (Slusser) Marshall.
Larry was a 1961 graduate of Alliance High School and was active in the band, choir, boys’ quartet, and Fall Varieties of “Oklahoma”. He also attended Mount Union College and was active in the choir and attended University of the Philippines, University of Tennessee and University of Southern Florida. He also graduated from Ohio Savings and Loan Academy.
He was a member of the Bolton United Methodist Church for 75 years, having served as Sunday school teacher, chairman of the administrative council, finance committee, pastor-parish relations, choir director and organist. He was also an Eagle Scout.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1962-1965, was stationed at SAC headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska, Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, and Tacoma, Washington where he received the honors of Airman of the Quarter and Airman of the Year.
Larry had a career in banking being Assistant Treasurer at Industrial Federal Savings and Loan in Salem and Canton and later became Vice President of First Federal, First American, Charter One and Citizens Banks, having worked in Alliance and Louisville until his retirement in 2006.
Larry had a love for Lionel Trains, Disney and especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Heestand) Marshall whom he married July 4, 1964; son, Jeffrey (Erica Lynch) Marshall and their children, Alicia, Tiffany and Lindsay; daughter, Jennifer M. (Robert W.) Petrack and their son, Max; daughter, Julie A. (John D.) Cain and their children, Dylan, Collier, Brian and Abbey; sisters, Carolyn A. (James) Blymiller and Margaret J. (Rev. Dr. David) Bloor; nieces and nephews, Jonathan and David Bloor, Steve and Mike Blymiller and Patricia Sapp; and many great-nieces and great- nephews.
Services will be held at Noon Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. David Bloor, former pastor of Bolton United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call at 11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
