Laverne C. Johnson

Lavern C. Johnson, age 70, of Alliance passed away at 5 a.m., Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Community Care Center.
He was born March 23, 1948, in Alliance, Ohio, to Herman and Melissa (Holsey) Johnson.
A graduate of West Branch High School, Laverne was employed with the City of Alliance for 20 years as a plant operator.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam Era.
Lavern was a member of Spirit of Faith Christian Center of Ohio. He was an avid fisherman and golfer, and an all-around sportsman.
Survivors include his wife, Paulette (Dulaney) Johnson, whom he married October 9, 1971; children, Guy Johnson, Dion (Crystal) Johnson and Melissa Johnson; grandchildren, RayJon, Guy, Brianni, Amari, Kendal and Gianna; siblings, Kerron (Susie) Johnson, Raymont (Brenda) Johnson, Edward Johnson, Brenda (Rufus) Rhome, Teresa Harper and Jerry (Papoose) Johnson; aunt, Ester Lena Bryant; uncle, Donald (Lisa) Johnson; special brother-in-law, Robert Gray; a host of nieces, nephews and friends here and in Columbus and Raleigh; and his special dog, Buddy.
Lavern was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Johnson Gray.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018, at the Hampton Inn of Alliance at 1831 W. State St. for family and friends.
