Lawrence H. "Larry" Ashburn, age 61, of Alliance died at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born March 20, 1948 in Ironton, Ohio to Oscar and Kathleen (Hall) Ashburn.
A graduate of New Matamoras High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Kent State University. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and was employed by Sebring Fluid Power. He was a member of the Alliance Amateur Radio Club, Canton McKinley Rifle and Pistol Club, enjoyed visiting his property in Montana, teaching amateur radio classes, shooting rifles and pistols in leagues, loved the outdoors, camping, sailing, astronomy and photography.
He was a United States Army Veteran having served in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Dianna L. (Hodgekin) Ashburn whom he married December 21, 1978; and a sister Ruth (Charles) Gaeta of Georgia.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, G. Sherwood Ashburn.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Rev. David Hostetler officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery
