Leila P. Ruff, age 90 of Alliance, died peacefully at 5:15 p.m. October 25, 2005 at Alliance Community Hospital surrounded by her loved ones, where prayers were offered at her bedside by Pastor David Kline.
Miss Ruff was a resident of Community Care Center for 11 years, where she received loving care.
She was born September 14, 1915 in Homeworth, Ohio to Glenwood and Alta L. (Bates) Ruff and lived most of her life in the Alliance area.
Miss Ruff was a 1934 June graduate of Alliance High School. She retired in 1969 from Alliance Builders Supply, after working as a bookkeeper. She also worked as a bookkeeper at the former Linerode Feed Mill and the former Cope Electric, both of Alliance.
She was a member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church since 1930, and member of the Miller-Reed Circle. She was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans of The Civil War Tent #2 - which disbanded in 1992, having held many offices, including being the Chaplain at the time of its closure. She was a former treasurer of the Memorial Day Committee in Alliance for more than 50 years.
Survivors include cousins, Carrie Myers of Alliance, and Seymour Butler, of Otto Wy., and special friend, Shirley Rosser. She was the childhood nurturer of Neva (Nick) Vizzuso, Lisa (Jim) Furry, Megan, Morgan and AJ Furry, Nikki (Ken) Kline, Nicholas and BayLeigh Kline, Kristie Vizzuso, and Courtlen and Sadie Vizzuso, all of Alliance.
Miss Ruff was preceded in death by her parents, and Bruce Papineau. She was a devoted daughter and friend.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home officiated by her close friend, Sue DeHoff. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Salem Greenlawn Cemetery.
