Leland B. Fast, age 76 of Alliance, passed away at 9:45 a.m. December 19, 2009 at Bel-Air Care Center.
Mr. Fast was born July 30, 1933 in White Cottage, Ohio and was raised by his loving Aunt and Uncle, the late Ray and Marian Davis.
A graduate of Zanesville High School, he retired after working in the Heat Treat Department at Transue.
Leland was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing horseshoes, and watching his grandchildren play baseball and softball. He also volunteered for many years for Alliance Hot Stove Baseball.
A U. S. Navy Veteran, Mr. Fast received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Occupation Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Jo (Griffith) Fast; children, Bill (Lynn) Fast of Alliance, David Fast of Canton, and Beth Tucker of Alliance; grandchildren, Jarrod (Krista) Fast, Kylene Fast, Joe Fast, Allison Marini, and Adam Tucker; great-grandchildren, Carter, Grady, Brody, and Jayden; sisters, Bertha and Sue; and brothers, Bob, Ronnie, Donnie and Roger.
He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne Fast; his mother, Ella Shiplett, sisters, Marcella and Ruth, and brother, Richard.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
