Lenora Mildred Hurford age 82 of 1645 Burt Ave., Alliance died at her home at 2:28 a.m. June 8, 2003.
She was born in Maryville, TN on January 2, 1921 to Rufus and Mildred Lenora (Russell) Walker. Mrs. Hurford graduated from Maryville High School, and Knoxville Business College. She was employed by the former Boston Store, Universal Co-Op, Alliance Manufacturing, and later graduated from the Alliance Beauty School. She owned and operated her own salon, Lenora's Salon of Beauty on 12th St. until retiring.
Mrs. Hurford was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, and former member of the Parents Association for Alliance High School Choir and Band. She was active with Camp Limrod, Medical Clinic, the Women's Prayer Group, and the church nursery. She was also a member of the Alliance Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Jay Hurford, whom she married March 12, 1943, three daughters Judith (Lawrence) Kosiba of Enon, Ohio, Donna (Bill) Book of Loveland, Ohio, Vicky (Phil) Soderman of Carpenteria, California, ten grandchildren, Jessica, Wes, Jeff, Susan, Heidi, Chris, Erik, Heather, Scott, and Michael; eight great grandchildren, one sister Audine Tuscany of Royal Oak, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hurford was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Clarence and her twin brother John.
Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
