Leonora Hampu

Leonora Hampu age 78, of Alliance, died at 4:04 a.m. Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Alliance Community Hospital. She was born November 14, 1937 in Scoreiu-Sibiu Romania, to Ioan and Paraschiva (Fuciu) Vulcu. Leonora was formerly employed at Mount Union College in housekeeping, before retiring in 2003.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church. Leonora loved to crochet and knit doilies, and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include sons, Liviu (Otilia) Hampu of Michigan and Adrian Hampu of Alliance; four grandchildren; Jeff, Kristina, Nicholas and Kristen; brother, Eugene Vulcu of Shelby Twp., Michigan; and three nephews, Alexandru, Ioan, and Cornell Vulcu.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one infant sister, and her husband, Nicolae Hampu, who died July 8, 2012.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday December 23, 2015 at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. John Nemes officiating.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. A Saracusta Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
