Leora A. Gardner, age 87, of Canton, formerly of Alliance, died at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Canton Regency Retirement Community.
She was born January 20, 1921 in Alliance to Walter M. and Nellie (Taylor) Miller and resided most of her life in the Alliance area.
A graduate of the former Marlboro High School, Leora was an Independent Tupperware Dealer for 25 years. She was a former member of the First United Presbyterian Church and enjoyed traveling and spending the winter in Florida.
Leora is survived by her son, Glenn P. (Trudy) Gardner of Old Fort, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn E. Gardner whom she married April 11, 1942 and who died January 15, 1996; two sisters and three brothers
A Private Family Service will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Marlboro Cemetery Chapel. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
