Lester H. Conrad age 92 of Alliance died at 1:15 a.m. Friday June 6, 2003 at Community Care Center.
He was born November 28, 1910 on the family farm in Knox Twp., Columbiana County, Ohio to Cregg and Florence (Benner) Conrad. Mr. Conrad was a retired farmer, and was a former truck driver for Hugh Benner. He also worked at American Steel Foundry, prior to being called to serve in the military.
Mr. Conrad was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran, serving at a technician, 4th grade, serving in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theaters, receiving three bronze stars.
He was a member of American Legion #574 of Homeworth, and U.S. Army 84th Infantry Rail Splitters. Mr. Conrad was the oldest living member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include sisters, Gladys Goughnour, of Alliance, Evelyn Reustle, of Alliance, Mary Penny of Alliance, Viola Blanchard of Homeworth, brothers Olin, Dale and Clayton Conrad, all of Alliance and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Mable Mobley, Violet Conrad, and two brothers Arnold and Dwain Conrad.
Burial will be at Salem Greenlawn Cemetery, with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 166 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1036.
