Lloyd R. McKimmie, age 85 of Alliance, died at 9:49 p.m. Monday February 7, 2005 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born January 21, 1920 in Reader West Virginia on McKimmie Ridge to John S. and Cecilia M. (Long) McKimmie, and lived in Alliance since 1959.
Mr. McKimmie attended school in Moundsville, West Virginia and attended Penn State College in 1956. He worked as a Dairyman before retiring from Transue and Williams Stamping Co. in 1985 after working as an Inspector.
He was a member of the Brethren Church in Bristolville, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army Sgt. during W.W.II, having served from 1942-1945, and was a member of the George D. Worth Post 574 of the American Legion, and the VFW Post 1036.
He was also a member of United Commercial Travelers, and Union Local 1622 of Transue and Williams Stamping Division. Mr. McKimmie also served as a local Square Dance Caller.
Survivors include his wife, Flossie (Logsdon) Dobbs McKimmie, whom he married Aug. 29, 1953, two stepsons, Harold E. "Woody" (Joann) Dobbs of Beloit, and Edwin Ray (Nancy) Dobbs of Las Vegas, Nevada, two step-grandchildren, Edwin Ray Dobbs Jr., and Edwina Candy Dobbs, both of Las Vegas; four step-great-grandchildren, Jasmine Nikole Dobbs and Donovan Lee Houghland, both of Las Vegas, and Nicklaus Dupree Dobbs and Elizabeth Nancy Lyn Dobbs, both of Brainard, Minnesota; two sisters, Retha (Frank) Ott of Lewisville, Ohio and Alma Yeater of Moundsville, W.Va., three brothers, Elza (JoAnn) McKimmie of Indianapolis, In., Richard (Bernice) McKimmie of Moundsville, W.Va., and Gerry (Rhelda) McKimmie, of Warren, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Chester Bryant officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
