Lloyd Allen Myers

October 9, 1939 — October 5, 2024

Lloyd Allen Myers, age 87, of Atwater, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 9, 1936, in Atwater to Roy and Florence (Keller) Myers, Lloyd was a proud graduate of Atwater High School before honorably serving in the United States Navy.

A dedicated lifelong farmer, Lloyd cultivated soybeans and corn with his brother Glenn, while also driving semi-trucks for UPS for three decades. His hands were always busy; he was a proud member of the Woodworking Turning Club and Atwater United Methodist Church. Lloyd was a true lifelong learner, having built two homes from the ground up and possessing the uncanny ability to fix anything—though it had to be done “his way.”

Known for his stubbornness and sense of humor, Lloyd never met a stranger. He had a gift for conversation, often captivating those around him, especially during meals out where he would inevitably engage with fellow diners and staff. Lloyd cherished a variety of numerous family vacations, especially to Myrtle Beach, and had an admiration for animals and nature. He delighted in his wife’s cooking, particularly her homemade peach pie.

A skilled negotiator, Lloyd was known for haggling over tractor prices down to the last dollar, yet he would spend without hesitation on a gift he found for Gracie. At heart, Lloyd was a romantic. They were married 63 years ago after meeting on a blind date in 1958. His enduring love for her was a testament to their deep bond. He took immense pride in his two daughters and their accomplishments, as well as the achievements of his grandchildren, who brought him great joy and kept him young at heart. The family would like to give special thanks to his son-in-law, Dan, for going above and beyond, not only as a son-in-law, but also as an exceptional friend to Lloyd.

Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife, Gracie (Bandi) Myers; brother, Glenn Myers; daughters, Julie (Fred Cearns) Myers and Janet (Dan) Rosinski; granddaughter, Tylyn Strecker; and grandsons, Michael, Garrett, Matthew, and David Rosinski.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eugene Myers.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date, with interment at Atwater Cemetery.

Donations can be made to Atwater United Methodist Church 6380 Waterloo Road Atwater, Ohio 44201 or Atwater Fire Department 6570 Waterloo Road Atwater, Ohio 44201.
