Lois Carlile

Lois L. Carlile, age 102, died at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Crandall Medical Center.
She was born April 23, 1908 in Charleroi, Pa. to James Burton and Louise (Crawford) Phillips. She moved to Ohio with her family at the age of three.
A graduate of Alliance High School, she married Roscoe A. Carlile on December 16, 1927. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1977.
Lois was President of P. T. A. at Greenbower School. In the 1940's, Lois and a group of P.T.A. ladies handed out baked goods to a troop train passing through Alliance Station.
She enjoyed quilting, other handwork, and gardening. She camped with the Roadrunner and Buckeye trailer club. Lois was a charter member of Lexington Grange, Marlboro Hardscrabble Club, Marlboro Senior Citizens, AARP, and the Vine Street United Methodist Church.
Lois retired from Monarch Rubber Company in Hartville after 7 years.
She is survived by two sons; Lloyd A. (June) Carlile of Alliance and Gene W. (Virginia) Carlile of Limaville; four grandchildren, Daniel A. (Deb) Carlile of Alliance, Philip L. (Cindy) Carlile of Marlboro, Ronald G. (Jeannette) Carlile of Limaville and Lynn Ann (Jim) Breit of Vanderhoff B.C. Canada; three step grandchildren, Mike (Michelle) Baldwin, Stacy (Tom) Skielding and Tammy (Mike) Collins of Alliance; 11 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe Carlile in June 1987; three sisters and two brothers.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Crandall Medical Center for the care they gave to Lois.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral home with Pastor Pam Bruno officiating. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
