Lois E. Thompson

Lois E. Thompson, age 88, of Alliance, passed away at 2:42 a.m., Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Community Care Center of Alliance.
Lois was born January 28, 1930, in Salem, Ohio, to Lloyd K. and Edith (Crawford) Wank. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Guy Hildebrandt.
She was a January 1948 graduate of Alliance High School and employed at Sherwood Manufacturing Coat Factory as a receiving clerk, and was a poll worker for 47 years.
A member of First United Presbyterian Church, she served on the sessions, deaconate, personnel and nominating committees, and was chairman of the prayer chain and the Sisters Group. She also served on the board of trustees, participant council and a life member of the Alliance Senior Center where she was a member since 1992 and earned volunteer of the year in 2002, and the Mayors Citizenship Award in 2007. She also enjoyed singing in the Senior Chorus.
Lois was also a member of more than 60 years, with the Order of Eastern Star Palmy Chapter No 114. She was an Honorary Life member of the PTA, serving as president at South Lincoln and Stanton schools.
Lois enjoyed spending time with her family, volunteering and life in general.
Survivors include her daughters, Paula (Lee) Springer and Gail Jefferys; daughter-in-law, Barbara J. Thompson; grandchildren, Jameson Springer, Nicholas Jefferys, Noelle Jefferys and Shawn P. Kelly; three great-grandchildren; and two half-sisters, Karen Galchick of Salem and Janet(Gordon) Dawes of Winona.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul H. Thompson, whom she married in 1949 and who died in 2003; and son, Paul H. Thompson, II who died in 2010.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor James McCurdy officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 4th at the funeral home with an Order of the Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
