Lois V. Herbst

Lois V. Herbst, age 86, of Sebring, died October 15, 2007 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio.
She was born June 15, 1921 in Akron, Ohio, to G.F. and Myrta V. (Guiley) Blank.
Mrs. Herbst lived in Ashland, Ohio, from 1959-1970, Akron, Ohio, from 1970-1999 and moved to Copeland Oaks Retirement Community in Sebring, Ohio, in 1999.
She received her B.A. in Education from North Central College in Naperville, IL, and retired as a school teacher who taught Latin and English.
Since living at Copeland Oaks, Lois was active in the Library, Chorale and Vesper services as a pianist. She lived a lifetime of Christian Service.
She was a member Union Avenue United Methodist Church, Alliance.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. James A. Herbst whom she married May 18, 1945; children, Joyce E. (R. Douglas) Hutchens of Wilmington, Ohio, Roger A. (Kim L.W.) Herbst of Akron, Ohio, and Robert J. (Jane E.) Herbst of Aurora, Ohio; grandsons, Kenneth J. (Judie) Hutchens of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Brian D. (Shana) Hutchens of Aurora, Colorado, and great grandson, Christopher A. Hutchens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, great grandson, Zachary R. Hutchens, three sisters and one brother.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 18, at Union Avenue United Methodist Church with Pastor Hoyte Wilhelm officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment with graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 19, at Ashland County Memorial Park in Ashland, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Copeland Oaks Life Fund, 800 S. 15th Street, Sebring, Ohio 44672. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, Alliance, Ohio.
