Lorraine (Lins) Bennett

Lorraine (Lins) Bennett, age 84, of Alliance, passed away at 8:25 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2015, at Canterbury Villa after an extended illness.
She was born July 9, 1931, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, to Clarence and Alice (Lynn) Lins and has resided in Alliance since 1946.
A 1949 graduate of Alliance High School, Lorraine was head majorette in school and also a baton instructor. She was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and the Alliance Eagles Club Aerie No. 2174. She was an artist who enjoyed crocheting, making crafts and baking and volunteering for many things. She also volunteered at Alliance Senior Citizens Center and the Alliance Soup Kitchen. She loved performing as a bag lady at many events in the community and was affectionately referred to as Mrs. B. in Barcus Acres.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (Dennis) Scaia of North Canton, Bruce (Lisa) Bennett of Alliance and Phillip (Ruth) Bennett of Massillon; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and special friend, Lois Laubert.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert "Bob" Bennett whom she married August 16, 1952 and who died September 2, 1999; brother, Jack Lins; and her dog, Yoshi.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 18, 2015, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Fr. Matthew Mankowski officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2015. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
