Louis R. "Louie" Myers

On Monday, December 17, 2018, Louis Myers, loving husband and father of three, passed away at his home at the age of 76.
Louie was born on May 18, 1942, in Alliance, Ohio, to Lowell and Rhea Mae (Grimes) Myers. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1960 and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Kent State University in 1968 while working on the B&O Railroad. During his undergraduate studies Louie met the love of his life Cheri whom he married on December 30, 1971. He received his law degree from Cleveland-Marshall in 1972.
He practiced law for 40 years in Portage County. Nineteen of those years were with the Portage County Prosecutor's office where he was Chief of the Civil Division from 1979-1989. He was a member of the Stark County, Portage County and Ohio State Bar Associations. He served as special counsel to the Ohio Attorney General and was admitted to practice in front of the Federal Court Northern District of Ohio and the United States Supreme Court.
Louie had a passion for all sports. He loved hunting, camping, vacationing in Siesta Key Florida, playing tennis, jogging, snow skiing, scuba diving and fishing with his brothers and friends at Pleasant Hill Lake. He was a member of the Elks and frequented the Naborhood Inn with friends and family. Louie also served his community on the Marlboro Township Zoning Board of Appeals.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Cheryl "Cheri" (Lose) Myers; three children, Melissa (Thomas) Redd, Matthew (Paige) Myers and Jonathan Myers; six grandchildren, Cole, Sophia, Logan, Ashlyn, Piper, Cody; siblings, Judith (Eugene) Michaud, Lowell "Jay" (Bessie) Myers, David (Karen) Myers, Dennis (Kathy) Myers, Beth (Edward) Nelson; sister-in-law Cheryl (McLaughlin) Myers.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Marlboro Christian Church, 9383 Edison St. Alliance, OH with Ed Harnish, Minister, officiating. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
