Lowell G. "Sam" Hoskins, age 92, of Alliance, beloved father and grandfather, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2010 at McCrea Manor.
He was born February 11, 1918, in N. Georgetown, Ohio to Ace and Ethel O. (Greeneisen) Hoskins and was a lifelong Alliance resident.
Sam was a member of the Alliance Baptist Temple. He attended Goshen Township High School and was formerly employed at Standard Slag and was a driller and blaster at Honey-Creek Stone Co. in Petersburg, Ohio until retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 66, AARP No. 2630 and member of the Civil Conservation Corp.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Doringo of Akron and Janice (Larry) Swartz of Norton, OH; six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and brother, William Hoskins of California.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ann (Vuga) Hoskins; second wife, Jessie D. (Shelton) Hoskins; twin sister, Lois Wixon, and sisters, Deloris Griffith and Dorothy Hoskins; and son-in-law, Gerald Doringo.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Payne officiating. Friends may call from Noon to the time of the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
